As someone who takes photos relating to my mental health It is hard to not get bogged down with thoughts of hopelessness. The subject matter of most of my work has an aura of negativity surrounding it and recently I have started to grow tired of the energy I am sending out through my work. I have discovered that not only is it me addressing the same problems repeatedly but it’s also bad for my mental health as well. I have decided to take a break from some of the more conceptual aspects seen in my work and create a project instead that reflects gratitude and a positive mindset. In the following work you will be presented with five portraits printed as cyanotypes of people I am so grateful for and have in a way saved my life. On the back of these cyanotypes is a letter to each person thanking them for their presence in my life. Without these people I truly don’t think I would have made it. They are a testament to how important it is to have a support network.
