  2. name: product-lookup
  3. description: >-
  4. Look up basic product specifications for Meridian Display Co. display products, including sizes,
  5. materials and common options. Use this skill when a user asks about the specs, sizes, or
  6. capabilities of a specific Meridian product (feather flags, retractable banner stands, fabric
  7. banners, event tents, trade show displays, LED displays). Trigger phrases include "what's the size
  8. of", "spec for", "do we sell", "what materials does X come in", "typical dimensions for", "is X
  9. available in". Do NOT use this skill for pricing questions (route to the quote tool), production
  10. speed questions (route to the production-speed-csv skill), or artwork/design questions.

  12. # Product Lookup
  13. A minimal example skill that answers product-spec questions from a built-in reference table.
  14. This is a starter skill, designed to demonstrate the SKILL.md structure for anyone authoring their own. For a real production skill, replace the inline table below with a reference to a separate data file (JSON / CSV / PDF) maintained in the same folder.
  15. ## What this skill does
  16. When a user asks about a Meridian display product, look up the product in the reference table below. Respond with:
  17. 1. The product name as Meridian sells it.
  18. 2. Standard size range.
  19. 3. Most common materials.
  20. 4. Most common options (sides, edges, mounting, etc.).
  21. 5. A brief "good for" / "not great for" note if relevant.
  22. Keep the response under 100 words. Don't add unnecessary explanation. Don't quote pricing: pricing always goes through the quote tool.
  23. ## Product reference
  24. ### Feather Flag
  25. - **Standard sizes:** 7ft, 9ft, 11ft, 14ft, 16ft tall. Width is fixed by the shape.
  26. - **Shapes:** Teardrop, feather, rectangle, angled. Teardrop is the most common.
  27. - **Materials:** 115gsm knit polyester (most common), 190gsm knit polyester (more wind-resistant).
  28. - **Sides:** Single-sided (one-sided print) or double-sided (two pieces sewn back-to-back).
  29. - **Bases:** Ground spike (grass), X-base (concrete / pavement), fillable weight ring, wall bracket.
  30. - **Good for:** Outdoor visibility, event entrances, grand openings, weekend events.
  31. - **Not great for:** High-wind locations without the 190gsm material and a heavy base.
  32. ### Retractable Banner Stand
  33. - **Standard sizes:** 34" wide x 81" tall (most common), 24" wide x 81" tall, 47" wide x 81" tall.
  34. - **Materials:** Vinyl graphic inside an aluminum cassette stand. Upgraded options use a curl-resistant polyester film.
  35. - **Options:** Single-sided (most common), double-sided (two graphics back-to-back, at extra cost).
  36. - **Setup:** Pulls up from the cassette, self-supporting. No tools.
  37. - **Good for:** Trade shows, lobbies, retail point-of-sale, any indoor environment.
  38. - **Not great for:** Outdoor use (the cassette isn't weather-rated).
  39. ### Fabric Banner
  40. - **Standard sizes:** Custom from 2x3 ft up to 24x10 ft and beyond.
  41. - **Materials:** 8oz knit polyester (most common, indoor / light outdoor), 15oz vinyl for outdoor durability.
  42. - **Sides:** Single-sided or double-sided (a block-out liner goes between the layers for double-sided).
  43. - **Edges:** Hemmed (sewn edge), raw cut, pole pocket (sewn tube for a pole to slide through).
  44. - **Grommets:** Nickel grommets every 18in is standard; other spacing on request.
  45. - **Good for:** Storefront banners, event backdrops, anything with a custom size.
  46. - **Not great for:** High-wind exposed locations without proper mounting.
  47. ### Event Tent
  48. - **Standard sizes:** 10x10 ft (most popular), 10x15 ft, 10x20 ft, 13x13 ft.
  49. - **Materials:** 500D polyester canopy, aluminum frame, dye-sublimated graphics.
  50. - **Options:** Full-color canopy print, side walls (full or half), sandbags or stakes for wind resistance.
  51. - **Good for:** Outdoor events, trade shows, farmer's markets, branded activations.
  52. - **Not great for:** Quick day-of-event ordering, since typical production time is 8-12 business days.
  53. ### Trade Show Display
  54. - **Types:** Pop-up displays, tension fabric backdrops, modular booths.
  55. - **Standard sizes:** 8x8 ft, 10x10 ft, 10x20 ft.
  56. - **Materials:** Aluminum frame with stretch-fabric or printed graphic panels.
  57. - **Good for:** Trade show booths, conference backdrops, event activations.
  58. - **Not great for:** Permanent installation. These are designed for repeated setup and teardown.
  59. ### LED Display
  60. - **This is a specialty product.** Don't try to spec it from this skill. Tell the user to contact us directly for LED display consultations: sizes, pixel pitches, and installation requirements are too variable for a quick lookup.
  61. ## What to do when a product isn't in the table
  62. If the user asks about a product not in the reference above (e.g., "neon signs," "vehicle wraps"), say:
  63. > "That's not a product I have specs for in this lookup. We may still offer it: check meridiandisplay.example or email hello@meridiandisplay.example for the latest catalog."
  64. Do not invent specs.
  65. ## Output format
  66. Plain prose, organized under H3 headings for each section (size, materials, options, etc.). No tables unless the user explicitly asks for one. Keep total response under 100 words.
  67. ## Example
  68. **User:** "What size feather flags do we sell, and which one is best for an outdoor festival?"
  69. **Skill response:**
  70. > Feather flags come in 7ft, 9ft, 11ft, 14ft, and 16ft heights. For an outdoor festival, the 11ft or 14ft teardrop on 190gsm knit polyester is the sweet spot: tall enough to be visible from a distance, wind-resistant enough for an open setting. Use an X-base if you're on pavement or a ground spike for grass. Avoid the 115gsm material in anything over 11ft when the wind picks up.
